One of the BIG reasons why apartment accommodation in Venice is so popular (compared to staying at a Venice Hotel) is the simple financial logistics of running a hotel in a city built over water. Since EVERY item in that hotel has to be delivered by boat or hand cart (including soap, toilet paper, food, even the laundry), it adds significantly to the overheads for all hotels in Venice. Add in the fact that sewage often has to be removed by a barge, and it shouldn't really surprise you that hotels in Venice tend to be pricey.
That's where renting an apartment in Venice from us makes great sense financially (without even taking into account the many other benefits). Venice Apartment Corte Nova-Doge Apr-09 Australia Family Group Ryan C. The apartment was very centrally located. If you buy a map of Venice on arrival you can easily find your way to the apartment. Suggest you use a pay phone at airport (buy phone card from newspaper shop) to advise apartment owner of your arrival- leave message. A water taxi from Marco Polo airport will cost you about 100 euros and take 20 minutes or you can catch a bus and then ferry (10 euros per person) which takes about one and a half hours. Our family of five had a wonderful time in Venice.

The neighborhood has many restaurants, small shops and a little grocery shop nearby. The owners are very pleasant and extremely helpful. The apartment is small but would be perfect for a couple. The stairs weren't a nuisance and, with the Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto stop, student-filled Campo Santa Margherita and a grocery store so close, the location was perfect. It's about a ten minute walk (and five bridges!) to Piazzale Roma. Apart from the bustle of the Campo, the area was quiet. Anna was very helpful orienting us to the neighbourhood. Of the three apartments we stayed at (in Rome, Florence and Venice) this was our favourite.

For the first time in my experience photos on the website are actually not as good as the reality. Very spacious, spotlessly clean, very generous breakfast provisions (sufficient for our lunch sandwiches too). The cost saving of staying on Giudecca far outweighed the slightly greater distance from Grand Canal etc. For a family like us who were not going out late at night it was no problem and had the benefit of being very quiet at night. would definitely saty again and recommend.

We would have loved less steps or an elevator - very arduous trek with luggage. We were a family with 4 teenagers, so found the lounge-room fold-out bed a hassle. We arrived in Venice with anticipation and trepidation as the week prior had seen the worst flooding they had had in the last 20 yrs. We were greeted by some sunny days and the enchantment that is Venice!! The appartment was just as described. It was in an ideal location, close to everything you want to see if you have just a day or a month. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 teenagersand the appartment itself was spacious, clean and well appointed. We had a minor power blackout and the owner came immediately to fix the problem. We would have no hesitation returning. The only minor suggestion I have would be to replace the sowing machine with another 2 seater sofa.

Venice Apartment Loredano Sep-08 Canada Mixed Group Joanne L. Loredano is a spacious, well-appointed apartment that is truly within 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco once you know the way. The Campo of Santa Maria Formosa is just around the corner and offers a great fruit and vegetable stand plus several cafes and restaurants. A fabulous book store is found in the same neighbourhood. The apartment is stocked with a generous supply of linens. Just don't follow the directions from Rialto. Ask for the directions from San Marco instead - much simpler to get to the apartment from San Marco! We enjoyed our stay very much!

Excellent accomodations in recently well renovated and completely upto date small building, quiet street on small canal, easy walk to San Marco and all means of transportation including feet. We were family of 6, requiring 4 bedrooms among us, and these 2 units, on above the other fit the bill perfectly. For a short stay (ours was 6 nites) there's absolutely no reason to pay 1200 euros at the Daniele.

The location a few minutes from the Rialto away from St Marco was perfect for us and the 4 of us were very comfortable. Do be aware that it is up a few flights of steep and narrow stairs and the welcome letter is dull of pleas to not drag the suitcases up, so be prepared for that. But once inside you will be very comfortable and the apartment is spacious and well maintained. There is no phone but cell coverage is very good.
